First place finish for Chadwick and Becerra at the SwimRun in North Carolina

Last weekend Misty Becerra from Florida and our friend and colleague Sophia Chadwick took first place in the Women’s Division of the SwimRun in Danbury North Carolina!

Congratulations, Sophia, your time of 3:52:37 is remarkable!

I’m currently sitting in the airport on my way home! My SwimRun race was in Danbury North Carolina where I raced with Misty Becerra who I had never met before. This was an incredibly hard race (so much climbing!) but pretty special considering we managed to win the women’s race! Did I ever think I’d visit the Stockholm Archipelago or North Carolina?! Never. But here I am!

This was not Chadwick’s first SwimRun. Her first ever SwimRun was in September in Sweden at the SwimRun World Championships on the Stockholm Archipelago: ÖTILLÖ Swimrun World Championship 2016.

ÖTILLÖ, or ö till ö, means island to island and Sophia ran and swam across 26 different islands covering 65 to 75 kilometres of running and 10 kilometres of swimming in the “very cold and wavy” Baltic Sea. Chadwick says it “was definitely the coolest race experience I have ever had and racing with a partner (who I met at the airport in Edmonton on the way to Stockholm), was a totally new and unforgettable experience.”
