Meet Harriet Anderson, Madonna Buder, triathletes

A few weeks ago, USA triathlon held a celebration for four new USA Triathlon Hall of Fame inductees. Among them was Harriet Anderson.

She is the oldest woman to finish Kona. For those of us that don’t do triathlon, yes, that’s roughly a 4 km swim, 180 km bike, and a 42 km run. Anderson was 78 in 2013. In her racing career she’s finished over 100 triathlons, and she’s finished Kona 21 times. Wow.

She started doing triathlon when she was 53.

And she’s not the oldest woman to finish an Ironman Triathlon.

Madonna Buder, aka the Iron Nun, was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2014. She has finished over 300 triathlons including over 40 Ironman Triathlons.
