Triathlon of Compassion, 2017

The Triathlon of Compassion has finished for another year and the race results are posted. Over thirty thousand dollars were raised on behalf of the Victoria Sexual Assault Centre (VSAC) this year. Nicely done!

Mike Neill from Human Powered Racing was very happy with the way it went today. “The money we raised was up this year from last and we love to see that,” Neill said. He continued, “It was a beautiful day, a little warm, but smiles all around.”

This was the 24th Triathlon of Compassion. Neill sounded a little tired, and very grateful as he explained, “we can’t do this race without our volunteers and sponsors and supporters. It’s a lot of community organizing. Working with Lindsay [Lindsay Pomper, VSAC] has been awesome. We do this because we love triathlon, and we love VSAC.”

We also spoke with Carole Richer who has been doing this event, and fundraising, for two years. She’s also a loyal Arbutus supporter, “I like going there because they’re athletes too and they don’t tell me to stop while I’m recovering or injured – I can keep going.” We love that.
