Sports medicine now offered in our clinic

I am excited to announce that I am opening a sports medicine practice in Oak Bay at Arbutus Physiotherapy & Health Centre, which is right across from the Red Barn Market on Oak Bay Avenue. It is a brand new clinic with sports medicine, physiotherapy and massage therapy. You may recognize Arbutus Physiotherapy which was just a block away but moved to the new location on Oak Bay Avenue on October 28, 2019.

I am accepting referrals for sports medicine patients immediately. I offer cortisone injections, viscosupplement (Synvisc, Durolane, Monovisc) injections and prolotherapy injections using ultrasound guidance. Prolotherapy is an injection of a dextrose solution that works well to stimulate the healing of chronic tendonitis, chronic ligamentous injuries and in chronically scarred areas (such as a muscle scar) by activating the inflammatory response in the injured area.

I have been practicing sports medicine and family medicine in Victoria since 2004. I have a background in track and field as an athlete and I have been working with the Canadian Track and Field and Cross-Country teams as the team physician at international competitions, including the recent Pan American Games in Peru. I have a special interest in running injuries and in youth sports injuries, but I will see any age athlete in any sport or other musculoskeletal injury.

I look forward to working with athletes and new patients and helping them get back to sport and exercise!
