Oak Bay half marathon: Feeling the burn and reconnecting with friends

These legs are feeling it after the Oak Bay half and riding all over the Okanogan with coach and Arbutus’ resident chiropractor Mike. Thanks coach! What a great way to catch up with a friend! Thanks for all the well wishes and cheers everyone, and to Human Powered Racing. I’ve missed you Tuna! – Sandy

A wooden mask on a raw wooden pedestal. It is a Coast Salish design, with black, white, grey/blue, and red detailing. There is fur on the top and back of the head, and the snout extends 1-2 feet forward.

Stunning masks and prints at the Legacy Gallery

This stunning wolf mask leaves me speechless. There’s a few days left to see the exhibit downtown at Legacy Art Gallery, “Emerging Through the Fog.” I can’t recommend it strongly enough. It’s so amazing! Prints by Art Thompson and amazing masks, that you can touch and put on, by Hjalmer Wenstob.

Mike and Sandy smile for a selfie photo. They both wear sunglasses and Human Powered Racing t-shirts. The background is a sandy beach with mountains not far across the water.

Training in beautiful Penticton

Great day of training in Penticton with Mike and Sandy!

A macro shot of a light pink wild rose, with a darker pink bud out of focus in the foreground. Beyond the rose bush is the glass wall of a building, reflecting trees and a cloudy sky.

UVic is blooming beautifully

The roses on campus are looking beautiful as ever!

Photo from behind of someone swinging a bat, with the ball flying out of frame. Other people are visible in the fore- and background wearing baseball gloves. It's a sunny day with green grass and a clear blue sky.

Throwback to this home run for community sports

I love to see folks in community playing sports. Home run! Summertime softball is the best! – Ocean River Sports

A photo from ground level of a pair of shoes and bare feet on grey sand. The person's pants are bright blue, matching the clear sky and water visible in the background.

Summer joy checklist

Shoes off — Check. Hot sand — Check. Ten deep belly breaths — Check. Joy — Check. Need those belly breath reminders, especially on Mondays! – Instagram commenter

Cheering for this guy, and for youth sports!

Here’s a throwback to Tuesday when Veronica was cheering on her son Max’s team, grade 4 Willows School, against St. Michaels University School. Sport makes us happy. HAPPY!
