A wooden mask on a raw wooden pedestal. It is a Coast Salish design, with black, white, grey/blue, and red detailing. There is fur on the top and back of the head, and the snout extends 1-2 feet forward.

Stunning masks and prints at the Legacy Gallery

This stunning wolf mask leaves me speechless. There’s a few days left to see the exhibit downtown at Legacy Art

Picasso's painting "The Acrobat," which is a blueish grey figure on a mustard yellow background with thin black strands in it. It is rectangular with greater hight than width. The figure has its head to the right, a large leg that starts below the neck and goes to the bottom right, an arm under that leg the is longer and end in the right corner of the canvas. There is then a thin arm with the hand in the bottom left and the end of the forearm attached almost directly across from the neck. The final limb is another foot bent at a 90 degree angle, which goes up into the top left and is attached between the thin arm and the neck.

Happy Friday from Picasso

The Acrobat, by Picasso, from 1929. It reminds us that a body is a thing that sometimes whirls and spins;

A woman with her black hair pulled rightly back into a bun is smiling to the left of the camera and wearing a black tank top. We can see her from the chest up. There are two splatter paint style paintings slightly out of focus in the background on either side of her head.

Those Oak Bay Bones

Sunny day in Oak Bay with some local art!

Two different art works side by side. On the left is a black and white painting of a woman's head, shoulders, and chest. She has her hair in a large bun atop her head, and round thin glasses. Her left hand is visible coming up to brush her chin. Past her neck is a long sleeved black shirt that is done with water colour so it has a blurred, dripping aesthetic. On the right is an abstract piece with blues, pinks, black, and a mustard yellow strip on the right. It is done in water colour, and all the colours blur and drip together. It is painted on a white canvas.
