Oak Bay half marathon: Feeling the burn and reconnecting with friends

These legs are feeling it after the Oak Bay half and riding all over the Okanogan with coach and Arbutus’ resident chiropractor Mike. Thanks coach! What a great way to catch up with a friend! Thanks for all the well wishes and cheers everyone, and to Human Powered Racing. I’ve missed you Tuna! – Sandy

Mike and Sandy smile for a selfie photo. They both wear sunglasses and Human Powered Racing t-shirts. The background is a sandy beach with mountains not far across the water.

Training in beautiful Penticton

Great day of training in Penticton with Mike and Sandy!

A man in black shorts, a grey tshirt, and a black baseball cap is lying on his back on a cherry coloured hardwood floor. He is in an office with cream coloured walls and there is a model skeleton and eye chart on the wall behind him. He has his right leg bent with his knee up and foot on the floor. His left knee is also bent, but the leg is in the air and he is rolling a large blue exercise ball up and down the wall with his left floor. He is also in blue runners. The Arbutus logo of a blue arrow in a blue circle is edited onto the bottom right.

Recovery with Mike Neill from Human Powered Racing

Mike Neill, from Human Powered Racing, demonstrates one of the many exercises he was prescribed as part of his recovery from knee surgery: “I thought of recovery like I thought of preparation for a race and a detailed plan was put in motion.”

Four adults (three women and a man) and a young boy (second from the left) with their arms around each other and smiling. They are all in running gear with race numbers pinned to them. Only the boy and the man (second from the right) don't have visible numbers. Behind them is a forest and they are standing on the edge of a road.

Happy Birthday Mikey!

Spending the day with my favourite person. Happy Birthday Mikey! We biked Mullholland Drive!

Sandy and XX relax after the Ironman Miami race

Race day at the Ironman Miami 70.3

It was a big race with over 2500 athletes from around the world. I had a sixth place finish in my age out of 112 women…

Two men and two women in tshirts and shorts are standing under a red square archway that says "Bike In" at the top. They are shoulder to shoulder and smiling. Behind them is a paved walkway and to the right rows of empty white bike racks on green grass. It looks bright and sunny in the background.

Miami Ironman 2015

Here’s Sandy and Mike posing at the athlete bike transition at the Miami 70.3. Sandy says: “Before the start of the race there will be 3000 bikes on those racks behind us! RACE DAY tomorrow!” Good luck tomorrow Sandy!
